So, I want the Shabby Lovely look, but I have a la-z-boy recliner sectional sofa, the "sectional" part is the challenging. I don't want to spent $1,000 on a custom slipcover, don't have $1,000 and even if I did, it seems like something I might like to change out again. So I bought (2) two of these above for $49 each. I'm going to try to tuck and sew my way to a semi-custom look for under $100. I'll post pictures of this little adventure when these arrive!! I Bought It HERE.

If you have ever killed a houseplant, by over or under watering, perhaps you should consider growing houseplants in water instead of soil. While many plants will grow as well in water as in soil, some actually grow better in water! There are several obvious advantages to growing plants in water. In addition to not having to worry about giving your plants too much or too little water, there is no messy soil or drain dish to bother with, and none of the hassles associated with re potting when the plant outgrows its container. There are just a few basic rules to consider, when growing plants in water. Select glass containers whenever possible. Plastic, ceramic, or pottery containers may, over time, leach harmful chemicals into the water, which could damage or kill your plants. Algae may tend to grow in clear containers exposed to bright light. To avoid problems with algae, use dark glass containers or place your glass containers inside baskets, decorative bowls, or pots.

If you plan to grow your plants from unrooted cuttings, you should remove all the leaves from the portions of the stems that will be under water. The cuttings should be at least six inches long. Place the cuttings in the container and pour in approximately three inches of washed gravel (mixed with one teaspoon of washed charcoal) or glass marbles to anchor the stems. Add non-chlorinated water at room temperature. Do not use demineralized water and do not add plant food. Plant food should only be added to water for plants with very well developed root systems.

I am looking for vintage ornaments for my tree. I looked over my collection on chintzy plastic ornaments that I've gotten year after year out of those clear plastic bucks from Walmart and Kmart and I've decided that I have to leave the Barbie ornaments in the boxes as keepsakes for my (someday hopefully) daughters and time to make my Christmas trees more than a hodge-podge of this and that stuck on the tree, and more about quality hand-blown Russian ornaments and vintage varieties. So this year will be a more sophisticated "I'm an accomplished lady in my 30's tree"....

3 eggs whites
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Slenda

Beat eggs whites stiff. Add sugar/splenda mixure and cinnamon gradually. Beat well after each addition.

Lay parchment paper on cookie sheet, do not grease. Drop teaspoonfulls onto the paper. Bake at 325 degrees for 15-25 minutes until they are browned to your taste. I like them crispy.

Some things I had in other rooms, some things I had, but repainted or refinished to fit my inspiration. Buying on Etsy or eBay because I work a lot and even my contrived visits to Hobby Lobby seems more like a hallowed pilgrimage than just a shopping session. Kind of like when you choose your friends, you try to find people that help you shine, don't drab you out and compliment your personality, I choose colors that compliment my dear love, pink. Baby Pink by itself in a room can look a little juvenile, but paired with some bold colors like Chocolate, Tiffany Blue, Celery Greens, with a dot of Fuchsia, brings the color palette to a new sophistication....this is my Barbie House.

Pots and buttons and more pictures...I painted these little pots with bright colors and outlined in burnished gold, they were still a little uptight so the ball mason jar of buttons helped bring them down a notch. I love my rosy picture fame...that frame has seen many a home...

Everytime I log on and look at that cupcake below and wish it were here so I could eat it, but I think I've gained 30 pounds in the last 3 years. Time to go back on the freekin "Protein Diet" it's the only thing that works for me, but Usually it was easier for me to stick to. I usually love eating nuts and berries and chicken and salad, but just the thought of it just bums me out. But I'm not looking forward to it, but I've got to lose this weight. Clothes are uncomfortable, I spend alot of time in the closet trying to hide my "new" bra fat....never had this, oh trust me, I've been fat before.....but never had it form on my back in flaps! WTH! Must be an over "30" phenomenon! Is there someone out there in cyber space that is going through this and wants to be an "acounta-billa-buddy"? I'm sitting here now not "hungry" but thinking I'll make some popcorn....gotta eat it up you know! So it won't "tempt" me when I'm doing the 21 carbs a day thing. I hate exercise. Blah....

But the Snow Fairy never comes! It never snows! Today was sunny and clear, just like any other day, but it was different. It was CRISP! I wore my crochet dark brown duster sweater today at work and I kept yawning all day! I guess being wrapped up in something that looks like one of granny's throw blankets will do that to you!!!

Tomorrow is election day, it is a wonderful practice of a free society, to elect leaders and make a difference in our world.

And when I start to worry about where the next leader chosen will take us as a nation I remember it's not in "that one's hands" it is in "HIS HANDS", and although it seems our nation tries to remove HIM, and shake loose of the loving grace of God, he's not letting go of "the greatest nation on God's green Earth".

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes. If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion and take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may be having a crumby day and kneads it.

eBay Used To Be a Fun Place......

eBay used to be fun for sellers and buyers, bad buyers were ousted by poor feedback and sellers who are bad likewise were ran out of town by the feedback system. But that has changed. eBay has now made it mandatory that sellers only accept payment by Paypal, which is also an ebay owned entity with high fees. This is triple dipping on sellers if you count listing fees, final value fees, then payment acceptance fees through paypal. Seller "up" prices to cover fees, and that cost is passed onto the buyers one way or another. Or worse, sellers are leaving eBay and scattering among other selling places. Problem is: where are they? I used to love eBay as almost a virtual swap market, shabby chic, retro odds and ends, reasonable prices and shipping. But those ma-and-pa sellers have gone. I found another alternative where some sellers have gone to: bonanzle . There is no cost to list, only pay a small fee when you sell, and you can choose your payment methods. You can IMPORT your items from Craig's list and eBay, so that's super easy.

This is my adorable neighbor Kathy and her friend Kris, and they have a shop called "KATRIS (combo of their names Kathy and Kris) BEADED ELEGANCE". Kathy is my hero, on a wonderful 115 degree day here in AZ, while doing yardwork I locked myself out of my new home that we were renovating, and my loving boyfriend placed a padlock on the gate so while he was out of town I would be safe working on the house...well....I was locked out of the house and INTO THE BACKYARD without a cellphone, boyfriend in California for the weekend! After I jumped over the wall, skinning my elbow, (of course) and crying like a baby I dragged my stinky self over to MEET MY NEW NEIGHBORS! I found this center piece in my favorite magazine, "Romantic Cottage" and thought I'd scan and share! It is a white gourd (white pumpkin not sure if it's still called a pumpkin since it's not a traditional orange), placed with a bit of vine on an urn (looks like a trophy or an ice bucket) I'm thinking of recreating this in some "forever" synthetic materials. That way I can use it all October and right to Christmas....I think this could stay out for Thanksgiving...don't you? I'm heading to HOBBY LOBBY (like a pilgrimage) since my boyfriend is in school most of Saturday...it's time to hit the shopping and Crafting scene! (Wonder if they have those faux pumpkins in the white?) Worse case I'll sponge and faux paint one of the orange ones!!

My Pizza Saga....

So, my company decided on Monday to have a "Pizza Party" for all employees today Friday at noon. So, as the office manager I called my favorite pizza place and ordered up $68 worth of pizzas (plus a $3 delivery charge and $7 tax) at 11:26 (they opened at 11:00) and they said they would deliver "within an hour". I sent out an email blast letting everyone know pizza was ordered and on it's way!!! 12:33 rolled around and I called, they said it would be 20 minutes, one of the ovens went down, so I announced over the P.A. that pizza would be here in 20 minutes. At 1:00pm I called again, he said the driver is on his way should be about 5 minutes. At 1:25 the guy walks in, the office is CRAZY, people are LEAVING, some had appointments and left expecting to eat by 12:00-noon they left at 1:00!! THEN!!!!! I give the Driver $80 cash for the $78 pizza bill and he says....HE SAYS.... That's not even 20%! He said "you tip 20% when you go to a place to eat why don't you give me 20%? I said servers take orders, deliver food, clean up and refill drinks!! You walked a couple boxes 3 feet from your car!! He said "I'm delivering you food"! I said...you're 2 hours late!!!! I've been a server, I'm a good tipper for SERVERS (20%+). BUT On a pizza delivery at an average cost of $20.00 -I give about a $2 to $3 tip. That's about 15%. Was I expected to give him at $11 TIP?? It takes as much energy to deliver one box of pizza as it does 3.5 boxes? (3 larges and one small). The pizza place didn't even take any money off the bill! The pizzas were under-cooked too. Grr!

On August 16th, 2008 the world's most adorable, faithful, loving couple had a tragic plane crash in my state of Arizona, and before the crash Nie Nie (Stephanie Nielson) had the world's cutest blog, and had many followers. Her family is reposting her blog entries while she is in recovery at the Maricopa Burn center. I say a prayer every night for the couple and my thoughts are with them constantly. The couple have 4 beautiful children, and a wonderful supportive family. If you haven't gotten to know Nie Nie, please click one of the buttons located on my blog, and whatever faith you may be, please put them in your thoughts for a speedy recovery. 3. Stay at home moms make lots of muffins and have good muffin recipes.
4. People dress up their cats, and take pictures of them, to share.
5. Entrecard sometimes doesn't work, and that frustrates me, and that is strange.
6. Entrecard must be advertised in the Philippines.
7. Blogging pregnancy progression is cool. Except for the 3D pictures, those are creepy.
8. "Ranting" and "Scrapbooking" have more in common than I ever thought.
9. WIDGETS ROCK. The More the BETTER!

It's really hard to take a happy dog picture of Sophie, when I get out the camera she doesn't understand why I'm pointing this "thing" at her, and therefore usually looks very nervous. So I tried to take some happy pictures because I'm trying to get a great graphic artist to maybe make Sophia into one of her "creatures" you can see her stuff at:
